Yeah, it’s a bit dismaying that the larger story is talked about so little. Social network analysis is already being deployed at the enterprise level, so it’s only a matter of time before it becomes a factor at the marketplace level.

I recently posted an article about the importance of social networks, and was somewhat dismayed to find that people immediately assumed I was only talking about social media. I think that you’re very much correct in that technology is a facilitator for social networking, and can’t be relied upon on its own to do good. And as for value neutrality, it’s worth noting the Tea Party is also a product of social networks.

I do think that the future will include an ever increasing amount of social linkages, facilitated by whatever descendant of telecommunications exists. In this, your reminder of the importance of triadic closure and the structure of social networks a strong check on being either too optimistic or too pessimistic.

Thanks a lot for this post and for bringing up all those memories of the fantastic time of unity and striving for a dream. Indeed it was an amazing fenomenon which would be hard if not impossible to repeat.

And I like your pictures a lot, especially that of your wife in the middle of the student camp Wish I would knew you then so that we could go to Majdan together.
