This is a very good question, because as the scale of a business grows, so does the level of organization needed to manage it.  Companies like eBay, although they seem stifling to the start ups they require, seem to do fairly well with their acquisitions (or at least better than average).  On the other hand, they don&#039;t seem to be able to build successful start ups themselves.

So, in the end, I think the answer lies in creating just the right amount of organization to manage the scale of the business.  Too much and you squash innovation, too little and you have chaos.
